Keeping in Touch with Stckman

Nuno, also known as Stckman, is a producer and DJ based in Lisbon. He’s proof that style and talent has no age. At the age of 17 he played his first live gig at a major music festival in the Portuguese capital. You’re likely to find him skating around town with his friends, surfing beach breaks and playing tunes at local Clubs. Listen to his tracks on Spotify and follow him on instagram - we're sure you won't want to miss what he's up to.

What city, time, and date were you born?
I was born in Lisbon at 10:10pm on the 3rd of January in 2002.

When did  you start DJing and producing? Tell us about how you got started.

I started DJing when I was 12, after I watched Steve Aoki playing in Rock in Rio in 2014. One year later I began my adventure in the producing world!

Did you have a mentor, or someone who you looked up to who “guided”you on your music journey? This could be someone you know personally, or not. Tell us about them.

For two years from 2015 to 2017 I was studying production classes in a local music store. I had a teacher/mentor who until this day is someone that I talk to almost every day, not just about music, but about life too.

During that time, and still to this day, I also watch a lot of tutorials on YouTube which have helped me learn a lot.

You played your first festival last year - Super Bock Em Stock - where you were the final act, closing the festival. Tell us about that experience and how it made you feel.

It was insane! Playing after SlowJ and on one of the most iconic venues in Portugal was truly an amazing and unforgettable experience.

I invited my parents and some friends and we danced all night! The room was full and everyone was dancing! It was a once in a life experience, it’s not every day that you play a sold out show in Coliseu dos Recreios at the age of 17.

Describe your music taste/style. What can people expect when they see Stckman live?

Well, that’s a hard question! I listen to everything, literally everything. I have 3 big influences in the music I produce myself: House, RnB, Disco, Future Beats, and sometimes Techno. But, to be honest, I would love to play all kinds of genres like Reggae, Indie Pop, Indie Rock, Rock, Hip Hop, Disco, Blues and Jazz!

Where do you go to listen to good music in Lisbon?

Lux Frágil, Music Box, HotClub

When you have friends visiting from abroad, what spots do you like to take them to in Lisbon? Restaurants, bars, other random places to hang out?

I love being near the water, so Cais do Sodré. I love our Tascas to eat or some random pizza place! I love going to small restaurants and bars, my go-to bar is Loucos in Bairro Alto.

It’s been a strange year. What are your plans for the rest of 2020? What can we expect to see from you?

A lot of stuff, I’m dropping an album that I’ve been making since 2017, which I'm really excited about. I'll also be dropping some clothing pieces I designed. I also want to travel a lot in Portugal and finish High School.

What does a perfect Sunday look like to you?

Wake up at 10am, go surfing with my friends, catch some good waves then we would go home and have breakfast. Before lunch I’d make some music with my friends. Have a good lunch in a traditional tasca before going skating.. Then we would go to a sunset party to dance and have some fun! We would go out after and I would DJ during that night.

If your life were a movie, what would be the soundtrack to it? Tell us the songs that you would put on the Soundtrack to your life.
